Details for the Upcoming Census of Agriculture

America’s farmers and ranchers will soon have the opportunity to be represented in the nation’s only comprehensive and impartial agriculture data for every state, county and territory. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will mail the 2022 Census of Agriculture to millions of agriculture producers across the 50 states and Puerto Rico this fall.

Virginia Crop Production Forecast

Corn production in Virginia is forecast at 55.9 million bushels, down 10% from the August forecast and down 6% from the previous crop. Yield was estimated at 162 bushels per acre, up 2.0 bushels from last month and the 2021 level.
Acres for harvest as grain were estimated at 345,000 acres, down 25,000 acres from 2021. The U.S. corn production is forecast at 13.9 billion bushels, down 3% from the August forecast and down 8% from 2021. Based on conditions as of September 1, yields are expected to average 172.5 bushels per acre, down 2.9 bushels from last month and down 4.5 bushels from 2021. The annual Holiday Parade is returning, once again!
The 53rd annual parade is being held, as usual, on the Sunday before Thanksgiving.
Route: Beginning on Thompson Street at Snead Street , crossing the railroad tracks onto England Street, turning onto Henry Street and ending at Gandy Elementary School.

The 2022 poster contest theme follows the annual NACD Stewardship theme: Healthy Soil, Healthy Life.
