Board of Supervisors meets Wednesday at 3 p.m.

The Board of Supervisors meets at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11. Among the items on the afternoon portion of the agenda are an update on the opening of the school year by Dr. Michael B. Gill, Superintendent, and a presentation on the upcoming Hanover County 300th birthday celebration by Deputy County Administrator Kathy Seay. County attorney Dennis Walter will lead a legislative workshop on the 2020 session of the General Assembly. The Board’s meetings can be watched live and an archived version is normally available on the afternoon after the meeting.

School Board meets tomorrow night at 7 p.m.

The Hanover County School Board meets at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10. The superintendent will report on the opening of the 2019-20 school year and the School will adopt its goals for the year. The School Board meets at 200 Berkley Street in Ashland.

Hanover 9/11 ceremony

9/11 Memorial ceremony Wednesday

All are invited to attend a 9/11 Memorial Ceremony on Wednesday, September 11 at 9 am.  This event will be held in front of the Hanover County Court Complex at the Rt. 301 Government Center. Those first responders and civilians who gave their lives serving others on September 11, 2001 will be honored. There will be several guest speakers, including the Board of Supervisors Chairman, the County’s Sheriff and Fire/EMS Chief and a Lee-Davis High School student who will talk about growing up in a post 9/11 world.

Deadline for CSB award nominations

Today is the deadline to submit a nomination for the Hanover County Community Services Board’s Jean C. Harris Award for Excellence. The Jean C. Harris Award for Excellence is given annually to Hanover-based individuals, families or groups that demonstrate outstanding contribution in the areas of intellectual/developmental disabilities, mental health, and/or substance use.
