Board appoints two School Board members

The Board of Supervisors made two appointments to the Hanover School Board on Wednesday. John F. Axselle III was re-appointed as the Beaverdam District’s representative and George E. Sutton was appointed as the Henry District’s representative. They will take office at the School Board’s meeting on Tuesday, July 2, at which a chairperson and vice chairperson for the 2019-20 school year will be appointed. Hanover County cannery opens on Monday

The Hanover County Cannery opens on Monday, July 1. It’s open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays in July and August. The Cannery will be open on Saturdays in September and October.  For more information, please contact the Department of Public Works at (804) 365-6181.

Celebrate the 4th Safely

Each July 4th, many Americans, most often children and teens, are injured and sometimes even killed while using consumer fireworks. Even sparklers, if misused, can cause serious injuries. Hanover Fire-EMS urges people not to use consumer fireworks because they are too dangerous. Instead, go to a public show put on by experts.

County offices and facilities closed on Thursday

Hanover County government offices, solid waste centers and libraries will be closed on Thursday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.
