Board of Supervisors meets tomorrow night

Among the items on the agenda of the March 27 meeting of the Board of Supervisors is the recognition of this year’s Planning Academy graduates. Tomorrow’s Board meeting will convene at 9 a.m. in the conference room of the Department of Economic Development, and the Board will immediately go into closed session to interview candidates for the position of County Attorney. The Board will reconvene at 6 p.m. in the Board room at Hanover Courthouse. In addition to the recognition of the Planning Academy graduates, Budget Division Director Shelly Wright will brief the Board on the impact of the adopted State budget on the proposed County FY20 budget. Several Planning public hearings are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Board meetings can be watched live online, with an archived version generally up on Thursday afternoon.

Spring 2019 issue of The Hanover Review

New issue of "The Hanover Review" mailed, on the website

The Spring 2019 issue of “The Hanover Review”, the County government’s newsletter, was mailed today and also is on the website. This issue tells about the proposed County budget for FY20 (public hearing April 3), the region’s efforts to battle the opioid crisis, the retirement of longtime County Attorney Sterling Rives and the County’s upcoming 300th birthday. “The Hanover Review” also includes information about Summer programs offered by Hanover Parks & Recreation – registration has begun!

Registration deadline Monday for active aging event

Monday, April 1, is the deadline to register for Hanover's largest resource collaboration for seniors. The “Finding Value in Your Prime” active aging event will be held on Thursday, April 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Mechanicsville Baptist Church. This event is brought to you by the Hanover Council on Aging, Hanover County Sheriff's Office, AARP, Ashland Police Department, Hanover Triad and Hanover County Parks and Recreation.
