Board of Supervisors hears zoning requests Wednesday

On Wednesday, Feb. 28, the Board of Supervisors meets at 6 p.m. Sterling Rives, County Attorney, will give a legislative update – it is Rives’ final meeting, as he retires the next day after more than 31 years as the County Attorney. Planning public hearings will begin at 7 p.m. and will include a request to permit a solar power facility on 226 acres off River Road and a request to eliminate the proposed Minor Collector Road that would extend Cobbs Road to North Lakeridge Parkway. Northlake Land Investments is also requesting a rezoning of 31.44 acres on the east line of Rt. 1 from General Business to Light Industrial. Angela Kelly-Wiecek budget town hall meeting at Chickahominy MS

Chickahominy District Supervisor Angela Kelly-Wiecek will hold her 8^th annual budget town hall meeting on Monday night, Feb. 25. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be held in the library at Chickahominy Middle School. During the town hall-style meeting, Ms. Kelly-Wiecek will provide a brief overview of the county’s proposed budget for the 2020 fiscal year as well as information on related public projects. The Board’s public hearing on the proposed budget will be held on April 3rd.

The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting its 12th annual Senior Citizens Police Academy. The Senior Citizens Police Academy will take place from April 9 through June 18. The academy will be held every Tuesday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. at the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office (Vaughan-Bradley Building), 7522 County Complex Road (Hanover VA 23069). There will be no cost for the participants. Class size will be limited to the first 30 seniors who register. Deadline March 30.
