County Administrator to present proposed budget

Hanover County Administrator Cecil R. Harris Jr. will present his proposed Fiscal Year 2020 County Budget to the Board of Supervisors on Wednesday, February 13. The Board’s meeting will begin at 2 p.m., with the County Administrator scheduled to present his budget at about 2:30. Other budget presentations will follow, from Col. David Hines, Sheriff, Fire/EMS Chief Jethro Piland and Director of Public Utilities, Steve Herzog. Board meetings can be watched live online with the archived version up on Thursday afternoon.

School Board to vote on proposed budget

The Hanover County School Board is scheduled to vote on the Superintendent’s Fiscal Year 2020 school budget on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m. The School Board is also expected to approve the proposed 2019-20 school year calendar.

Help with tax returns offered at Social Services

On Tuesday evenings from through April 9, the Hanover Department of Social Services is offering free help with tax returns for qualified individuals and families. This program is offered through United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. To be eligible for the assistance, income cannot exceed $55,000. Region launches Opioid Solutions RVA website, media campaign

Hanover, Chesterfield, Henrico and the city of Richmond have launched a website and a yearlong media campaign under the name Opioid Solutions RVA to highlight the dangers of opioid use and to connect those struggling with addiction to information, treatment and resources. Kelly-Wiecek to hold budget town hall meeting at Chickahominy MS

Chickahominy District Supervisor Angela Kelly-Wiecek will hold her 8th annual budget town hall meeting on February 25, 2019. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be held in the library at Chickahominy Middle School. During the town hall-style meeting, Ms. Kelly-Wiecek will provide a brief overview of the county’s proposed budget for the 2020 fiscal year as well as information on related public projects. The Board’s public hearing on the proposed budget will be held on April 3rd.
