Bourassa reappointed to School Board

The Board of Supervisors has re-appointed Roger S. Bourassa as the Mechanicsville District’s representative on the Hanover School Board. Mr. Bourassa, who was first appointed in 2014, received the unanimous backing of the Board after being nominated by Mechanicsville Board member Canova Peterson. The other candidate for the position, Robert Barnette, withdrew his name from consideration.

Hanover School Superintendent named Superintendent of the Year

The Virginia PTA has named Hanover County Public Schools’ Superintendent Dr. Michael Gill as the 2018 Superintendent of the Year. Presented annually as part of its Power Partners program, the Virginia PTA selects a superintendent who demonstrates a genuine commitment to helping every child maximize his or her potential by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

Cannery opens tomorrow

The Hanover County Cannery opens on Monday, July 2. It’s open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays in July and August. County offices, facilities closed on Wednesday

Hanover County government offices, solid waste centers and libraries will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.

Celebrate July 4th Safely!

Each July 4th, many Americans, most often children and teens, are injured and sometimes even killed while using consumer fireworks. Even sparklers, if misused, can cause serious injuries. Hanover Fire-EMS urges people not to use consumer fireworks because they are too dangerous. Instead, it's safer to go to a public show put on by experts.
