Atlee High voting location changed for Tuesday's primary

Both the Democratic and Republican parties will hold dual primaries on Tuesday, June 12. There will be a change in the voting location for those who vote at Atlee High School. Due to the high number of registered voters in the Atlee polling precinct, the expected large voter turnout on election day and school being in session on June 12, the voting area for the primary has been moved to the back of the school adjacent to the parking lot used by school senior class members. The voting area will not be in the previous location in the front foyer of the school.

Rural Plains Foundation offers "Lectures on the Lawn" Thursday

Short talks on historical topics will be held at Rural Plains on June 7, 14 and 21. The speaker on June 7 will take a look at the lesser-known career of a prominent Civil War figure, Hanover’s Edmund Ruffin, and his agricultural genius. On June 14 the author of a recent book on Patrick Henry will discuss insights he gained. On June 21 Anne Geddy Cross will have as her topic, “St. Paul’s Parish, Hanover County and the Dissenters.” The talks begin at 6:30 p.m. and, as always, blankets, lawn chairs and picnic suppers are welcomed.
