Outstanding volunteers to be honored on May 15 at Hanover High

Hanover’s annual Spirit of Volunteerism celebration will be held on Tuesday, May 15 at 7 p.m. in the Hanover High School Auditorium. Hosted by the Board of Supervisors, this free event pays tribute to all volunteers within our community and honors award nominees for 2018. The program includes music by the Hanover Concert Band, the Hanover High School Orchestra and Jazz Band and performances by the 2018 Hanover Idols. Guest Host will be Cheryl Miller, Noon Anchor for CBS Channel 6.

Classic Car Cruise-In

Parks & Recreation offers Classic Car event on Saturday at Hanover High

'Make the Scene' as we take a step back in time to the Cruise In days when the parking lots at Hanover High School fill with beautiful classic automobiles (pre-1993) while the sounds of the 50's, 60's and 70's play in the background. This event will be held on Saturday, May 12, from 4-7 p.m. and is sponsored by Hanover County Parks & Recreation. Free event and open to the public. Sponsored goodie bags to the first 200 classics to cruise in.

Atlee Road Extended temporary detour starts Monday

Beginning Monday, May 14, the contractor will be temporarily implementing the Combs Drive detour (Phase 2 Detour Route) to facilitate final paving and pavement marking along the leg of Atlee Road in Rutland and Cool Spring Road. This temporary detour will close off Cool Spring Road and detour daytime traffic to Combs Drive. This activity is expected to last about 5 days and the detour will be in effect from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day. Outside of those hours, the normal traffic pattern will be followed.
