Board of Supervisors meets at 3 p.m. on Wednesday

The Board of Supervisors meets at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9. Employee Service Awards will be given. The Board will hear presentations on the quarterly financial reports, newspaper delivery methods and Atlee Station Road corridor improvements. There will be no evening session on May 9. Board meetings can be watched live online with the archived version up on Thursday afternoon.

School Board meets Tuesday night at 7 p.m.

The Hanover School Board meets at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8. Action items include approval of next year’s calendar of extracurricular activities and federal grant funding application funds. There will be a number of recognitions and announcements.

Sheriff's Office receives 5th State reaccreditation

The Hanover Sheriff’s Office has achieved its fifth consecutive state reaccreditation through the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC). The Sheriff’s Office first achieved state accreditation in 1998 and is the only Sheriff’s Office in Virginia to be dually accredited through VLEPSC and the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). Participating in both processes is voluntary. To achieve reaccreditation, the Sheriff’s Office must undergo a rigorous on-site inspection every four years by multiple specially trained, independent assessors, who examine all areas of the agency to ensure compliance with all applicable professional standards set forth by the commission.
