Board of Supervisors meets tomorrow at 6 p.m.

The Board of Supervisors meets at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25. The County Administrator will review the status of the Board’s Fiscal Year 2018 Initiatives and propose adoption of the Board’s FY19 Initiatives. The Board will also hear an update on the Capital Region Workforce Partnership. Public hearings begin at 7 p.m. Board meetings can be watched live online with the archived version up on Thursday afternoon.

Prescription drug take-back program on Saturday

On Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with Ashland Police Department and Hanover County Public Works, will be conducting a Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. This event is sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration- Office of Diversion Control. The Mechanicsville Solid Waste Center, 7427 Verdi Ln, Mechanicsville, VA 23116, and the Ashland Police Department, 601 England St, Ashland, VA 23005, have been established as collection sites. This is a free service to Hanover County and Town of Ashland citizens. Watch the video here.

May 1 is deadline to file for high-mileage discount

If your vehicle has a high amount of mileage, you may apply for a reduction in your personal property assessment. The qualification is based on NADA mileage tables. Tuesday, May 1, is the deadline to apply for this reduction, which is offered by the Hanover Commissioner of Revenue’s office. The form can be filled out online.

Two Hanover volunteers win state award

Two Hanover County residents have been recognized by Governor Ralph Northam as 2018 Governor’s Volunteer and Community Service Award recipients. Tommy Davis received the “Spirit of Family” Award and Addison Raso the “Spirit of Youth” Award. Both were Hanover County “Spirit of Volunteerism” winners last year.
