Special recycling, shredding event tomorrow at Verdi

Hanover County will observe “Earth Day” by holding a special household recycling and paper shredding event at the Mechanicsville Solid Waste Center (east side) tomorrow from 8 a.m. until noon. For liquids, aerosols and solids which are classified as household hazardous wastes, there will be no charge but a 5-gallon limit. Watch the video here.

K0 Heroes Day on April 21

K9 Heroes Day at Pole Green Park

Hanover County Parks and Recreation will hold its 6th annual K9 Heroes Day, featuring Pooch Pursuit event, tomorrow at Pole Green Park from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. This unique event honoring our K9 Heroes offers demonstrations in the areas of command, protection, and tracking; pet-friendly vendors and a K9 Fun Zone with activities and games designed specifically for canines. The event kicks off with the Pooch Pursuit 5K run or 2k walk, where runners/walkers can team up with their four-legged companion or go solo.  (Dogs are required to remain on secure leash at all times). Arts and Sciences Festival

Arts and Sciences Festival tomorrow

Hanover County Public Schools’ 44th Annual Festival of the Arts and Sciences will be held tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Atlee High School. Admission is free, and food will be available for purchase. Event schedule here. Over 3,500 students will participate in this community event that highlights their accomplishments during the school year.

Master Gardeners Spring Plant Sale

Master Gardeners hold annual Spring Plant Sale tomorrow

The Hanover Master Gardeners Association will hold their annual Spring Plant Sale tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The sale will be held in the parking lot of Hanover Evangelical Friends Church, 6420 Mechanicsville Tpk., Mechanicsville, VA 23111 which is located across the street from Lowes. Plants for sale will include annuals, perennials and over 20 different kinds of tomatoes. You can preview the plants for sale.
