Final Rabies Clinic of Season Feb. 3

The final Hanover County Animal Control rabies vaccination clinic of this season will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3, at the East Hanover Rescue Squad from 9 a.m.-noon. Vaccines will be administered at a cost of $8 per dog or cat. Only healthy, non-pregnant animals will be vaccinated. No wolf or cat hybrids or animals other than dogs or cats will be vaccinated. The East Hanover Rescue Squad is located at 8105 Walnut Grove Road in Mechanicsville.

1st District Veterans Advisory Council meeting tomorrow

Congressman Rob Wittman invites veterans to attend a 1st District Veteran’s Advisory Council meeting on Friday morning, February 2, starting at 9 a.m., at VFW Post 9808, in Mechanicsville. The address is 7168 Flag Lane, Mechanicsville, 23111. This non-partisan meeting will start at 0900 and end at 1030. The purpose of the meeting is to offer a Legislative Update from Congress and to listen to your feedback and suggestions on Veterans issues and the nation’s defense and military. You are asked to contact Joe Schumacher at [email protected] or call 730-6595 if you will be able to attend the meeting; directions to the meeting site are also available if needed.

Project targets underage drinking

The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office and youth volunteers are participating in PROJECT STICKER SHOCK on Saturday, February 3, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Sticker Shock is a youth led prevention program designed to support existing and encourage new community activism, cooperative efforts and community capacity building to combat underage drinking and its related problems, specifically adults providing alcohol to minors. Youth will visit participating retailers accompanied by the Sheriff’s Office, Ashland Police Department, Hanover Cares and members from Hanover County Community Services.
