Board approves full funding for the Montpelier Recreation Center and Library

The Board of Supervisors on March 8 approved full funding to build the Montpelier Recreation Center and Library. This facility will be a hub for the community to gather and enjoy a much-expanded branch of the Pamunkey Regional Library, additional classroom space and a full-size gymnasium with a larger stage. Board advertises tax abatement; considers changes to tax relief program for the elderly, disabled

The Board of Supervisors on March 8 authorized the advertisement of several items related to the proposed Fiscal Year 2024 County budget for a public hearing on April 5^th. Included was the authorization to advertise a public hearing to declare a surplus in real property tax revenue for FY2023, which would enable the Board to provide a rebate equivalent to two cents on the tax rate to all real property owners who owe taxes. If approved, this would be reflected as a tax bill abatement that will be applied to the tax bills due in June. Also, the Board agreed to advertise an enhancement to the County’s tax relief for the elderly and disabled program. The changes proposed by the Board include expanding the income thresholds in each of the relief categories by an additional $5,000. These changes will provide more relief to already eligible participants and can allow for more participation in this tax relief program.

Regional Transportation Forum to be held on Friday, March 17th

Plan RVA is partnering with Chamber RVA to offer the 2023 RRTPO Transportation Forum on Friday, March 17 from 8-10 a.m. at Main Street Station, 1500 East Main Street, Richmond VA 23219. The forum will feature presentations and panel discussions that provide an overview of the region’s transportation infrastructure investments as well as the major issues that need to be addressed in the short and long-term for all modes of travel.
