Board to discuss assessment, tax relief tomorrow afternoon
On Wednesday afternoon, the Board of Supervisors will hold a workshop on two proposals regarding the proposed Fiscal Year 2024 budget. Last week, the Board’s Finance Committee unanimously recommended that the Board abate the bills of real property owners as a means to offset the impact of the market-driven increase in the values of homes. The Finance Committee also recommended enhancing the tax relief for the elderly and disabled program to make more residents able to receive the relief and provide a higher level of tax relief. The Board will discuss these recommendations and the advertisement of public hearings related to the proposed budget. The workshop is tentatively scheduled for around 2:45 p.m., but times may be adjusted during the course of the meeting. Public hearings on the budget and related items are scheduled for April 5 at 6 p.m.
