Comp Plan public engagement opportunities tonight, next week

Hanover County is working with residents, businesses, landowners and other community members to update its Comprehensive Plan. Called “Envision Hanover”, the Plan is the County’s long-range vision of Hanover over the next 25 years, addressing land use, housing, economic development, and natural resources. In the coming days, there will be several in-person public participation events to introduce some preliminary ideas about key concepts related to land use, economic development and historic resources: tonight at the Montpelier Center for Arts and Education; Monday January 30 at 10477 Woodside Farms Drive in the Chickahominy Falls community; and Thursday February 2 at the Mechanicsville Library. All events begin at 6 p.m.

Informal assessment review period ends Feb 1

Feb. 1 is deadline to call Assessor's Office for informal assessment review

Reminder: The Board of Supervisors has extended the informal assessment review period until February 1, 2023. The strong real estate market in Hanover has led to increases in value for homes throughout the County this year. Members of the Board of Supervisors wanted to provide additional time for citizens to discuss their assessments with the Assessor's Office. Any property owner can contact the Assessor’s Office at 804-365-6029 to discuss their assessment.

Hanover County is seeking nominations for the annual Spirit of Volunteerism awards. These awards recognize volunteers who have helped to transform lives, build social connectedness, foster active citizenship and create resilient communities.
