HCA proposes new hospital in Hanover

Henrico Doctors’ Hospital has filed a Certificate of Public Need (COPN) application with the State Health Commissioner for a proposed 60-bed standalone hospital that would be located along Sliding Hill Road near the Atlee-Elmont interchange. The COPN must be approved by the State Health Commission. The COPN process is independent of local land use determination by the Board of Supervisors. Those processes are expected to run concurrently.

Signup period for Hanover's tax relief for the elderly and disabled program has begun

Hanover County makes real estate tax relief available for residents who are elderly or permanently disabled and who have a net worth of $300,000 or less, and combined household gross income of $52,500 or less. The application period for the upcoming year has begun and the deadline is March 1, 2023 for the relief to be applied to the tax bills due (first half) on June 5, 2023. The Board of Supervisors enhanced the program last year, lowering the thresholds for participation while increasing the amount of relief.
