Board selects potential school site east of Mechanicsville off Rt. 360

The Hanover County Board of Supervisors has authorized a contract on just over 113 acres in the Henry District for the potential site of a replacement Middle School and High School. Long term planning is a key priority for the Board of Supervisors and this site could accommodate Mechanicsville High School and Bell Creek Middle School when those buildings are replaced in future years. Sheriff Hines wins national award

Colonel David R. Hines, Sheriff of Hanover County, has received national recognition from the American Legion. At the December 14 meeting of the Board of Supervisors, Commander Frank Hilliard with the American Legion Post 90 in Beaverdam presented Colonel Hines with the National Officer of the Year award. Hilliard explained Colonel Hines received this national recognition for “outstanding, selfless service over and above normal duties through heroic acts, community service and professional achievement, thereby exemplifying the meaning of the phrase: America’s Finest.”

Holiday hours 2022

Holiday hours begin Friday for government offices

Hanover County Government offices and courts will be closed Friday, December 23 and Monday, December 26, in observance of the Christmas holiday and Monday, January 2 for New Year’s. Hanover County solid waste facilities will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Branches of the Pamunkey Regional Library will be closed December 23-26 and December 31-January 2. Our wishes to all for a happy and healthy holiday season!
