Voter Registration & Elections Office to hold Citizen Workshop tomorrow

Tomorrow, the Voter Registration & Elections office will host a citizen workshop on voting changes that are in place for this November's elections. The workshop will be held at 10 a.m. in the Board Room of the Administration Building at 7516 County Complex Road, Hanover VA 23069. The registrar will be discussing how voting precincts have changed as a result of redistricting, as well as new laws. Informational meeting on proposed intersection improvement in Mechanicsville to be held Monday night

On Monday, September 19, at 5:30 p.m., Hanover County will hold an information meeting to present preliminary roadway plans for proposed improvements at the intersection of U.S. Rt. 360 Business/Atlee Road/Cold Harbor Road in the village of Mechanicsville. The meeting will be held at Mechanicsville Elementary School. The preliminary roadway plans will include the road alignment, intersection layout and pedestrian accommodations early in the development of the project to allow the public to have early input in the design process. Hanover recognizes September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

On Wednesday, the Hanover County Board of Supervisors proclaimed September “Childhood Cancer Awareness Month” in Hanover. Hanover County Board of Supervisors Chair Angela Kelly-Wiecek read the proclamation and presented it to local resident LeAnna Headley. In 2014, when Headley was just 14 years old, she founded a 501c3 nonprofit called “Our Amazing Fighters.” The nonprofit is committed to raising awareness and spreading joy to kids and their families in the fight against pediatric cancer. Hanover's school-based mental health services recognized for excellence by state organization

Hanover County’s school-based mental health services program has received a 2022 Achievement Award from The Virginia Association of Counties (VACo). The VACo Achievement Awards recognize excellence in local government programs in the areas of innovation, cooperation, and model practices. Hanover’s school-based mental health services was named a model program in the area of health and human services. The program was created to enhance the overall emotional, behavioral, and academic wellbeing of students by providing access to therapeutic supports within a familiar, reassuring setting.
