Board of Supervisors meets Wednesday

The Hanover County Board of Supervisors meets on Wednesday, August 24, at 2 p.m. During the afternoon session, the Board will hear updates on the Connect Hanover Broadband Initiative and the Fall Line Trail. The Board will also hold a legislative workshop during its afternoon session. After a recess for dinner, the Board will hold Planning public hearings beginning at 6 p.m. Among the public hearings are a proposal to amend the Comprehensive Plan to change the designations on property between Providence Church Road and Rt. 54 just southeast of Woodside Lane and the Town of Ashland. There is also a rezoning request involving Hickory Hill II L.L.C. On Wednesday night, the Board also is scheduled to hear a request to amend the conditional use permit associated with the Ashcake Road Landfill. The full agenda with staff reports can be read here. Jean C Harris Award for Excellence

Jean C. Harris Award for Excellence nominations sought

The Hanover County Community Services Board is currently seeking nominations for the Jean C. Harris Award for Excellence. This recognition honors individuals and organizations helping County residents with support and services related to mental health, substance use and developmental disabilities. The award is named for one of the founding Board members of the Hanover CSB, Jean C. Harris. She was a compassionate and tireless advocate for persons with disabilities. We know you know someone out there like Jean! Nominations are due by September 9, 2022.
