Henrico and Chickahominy Medical Reserve Corps
Among the winners recognized on May 12 were the volunteer members of the Henrico and Chickahominy Medical Reserve Corps, who provided most of the staffing for the COVID-19 vaccination clinics offered in the County last year.

Hanover honors outstanding volunteers!

Hanover County resumed what used to be its annual (pre-COVID) “Spirit of Volunteerism” celebrations on May 12. This year’s winners were:

   Memorial Regional Medical Center received the “Commitment to Community Award”, established to honor a Hanover business that exemplifies strong community values and a sustained commitment to supporting the community.

   William Berkley “Berk” Jones received the “Spirit of Dedication” award, given to a volunteer aged 60 or over.
   David and July Fuller received the “Spirit of Family” award. 
   Scott Boyer received the “Spirit of Inspiration” award, which goes to an individual who has volunteered for 20 years or more within a specific organization.
   There were two “Spirit of One” winners, Kim Alford and Alexis Torres.
   The “Spirit of Team” award was presented to Henrico and Chickahominy Medical Reserve Corps members. 
   Maggie Sharp won the “Spirit of Youth” award. 
   Mechanicsville High School Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps won the “Spirit of Youth Team” award.

Amanda Six named Finance Director

Amanda L. Six has been appointed by County Administrator John A. Budesky as Director of Finance and Management Services for Hanover County. Six officially begins her new role on July 1st. Six has 14 years of governmental finance experience and for the last six years has served as the Director of Finance for Hanover County Public Schools. “We are excited to add Amanda to our team,” Budesky said, adding, “Amanda stood out from a list of qualified applicants. Her experience in local government budget and finance as well as her familiarity with Hanover County will make her a valuable asset to our workforce”.  For more information on Amanda read here.

Community meeting for new fire station on May 26

Hanover County will hold a community meeting on a plan for a new fire station, Fire Station No. 17. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 26 at Laurel Meadow Elementary School. The purpose of this meeting is to share with the public information about the plan, process, and timeline for the project. The new station would be located on a section of property between the Laurel Meadow Elementary School facilities and Lee-Davis Road. Read here for details on how you can participate.
