Board of Supervisors meets May 11

The Hanover County Board of Supervisors meets on Wednesday at 2 p.m. A highlight of the afternoon agenda is an update from Dr. Michael Gill, Superintendent of Hanover County Public Schools, on the consolidation of Henry Clay and John M. Gandy Elementary School. Other agenda items include a third quarter financial report, a presentation on FEMA map revisions and a discussion on the County’s Facilities Use Policy. There is no evening session on May 11. Board meetings are videostreamed live here with the archived version up later in the week.

Hanover recognizes great volunteers on Thursday night at Hanover High

Please join us Thursday night, May 12, for our Spirit of Volunteerism Awards as the Hanover Department of Community Resources recognizes our outstanding and dedicated volunteers. We are excited to have NBC 12's Simone Cuccurullo as our guest host. Doors at Hanover High School open at 6:30 p.m., the program begins at 7 p.m.

Restrictions on bulky materials at solid waste centers May 26-29

Hanover County will be closing the Solid Waste Transfer Station for floor repairs from May 26-29. Due to capacity issues, no large furniture, mattresses, or demolition debris will be accepted Hanover County’s six Convenience Centers during this time. In addition, the Transfer Station also will be closed to commercial haulers from May 26-30 and ALL Hanover County trash and recycling facilities will be closed Monday, May 30, for Memorial Day. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
