Board adopts County budget

The Board of Supervisors on April 13, 2022 unanimously adopted the Hanover County budget for Fiscal Year 2023, which begins on July 1. Highlights include replacing three elementary schools – and renovating a fourth – within five years, building a new fire station, investing in employees to maintain market-competitive salaries, and enhancing the County’s Tax Relief for the Elderly and Disabled program. For the full story read here.

Board recognizes six-year-old for her heroic actions in saving her mom

Yesterday the Board of Supervisors presented 6-year-old Jordynn Etheridge of Hanover with a 911 Life Saver Award and recognized her as an honorary Hanover County Emergency Communications Officer Wednesday for her heroic actions. Jordynn jumped into action when her mom, Deja, collapsed and was unresponsive in their house. Here’s the full story.

Board seeks nominees for the Mechanicsville School Board seat

The Board of Supervisors is seeking nominations for the School Board seat representing the Mechanicsville District. School Board members are appointed by the Board to serve four-year terms. Each of Hanover’s seven election districts has a member on the School Board, which sets policy for the Hanover County Public School system. Trash and recycling centers will be closed Sunday

Hanover County solid waste and recycling centers are closed on Sunday, April 17 in observance of Easter.
