Household hazardous waste accepted at special event tomorrow

Tomorrow from 8 a.m. to noon, Hanover County residents can bring household hazardous waste for free disposal to the Mechanicsville trash and recycling center at 7427 Verdi Lane. More details and a full list of household hazardous waste that can be accepted can be read here. You can also bring up to four boxes (10” by 12” by 18”) of documents will also be accepted for shredding. No businesses will be permitted. No out-of-county materials will be accepted.              

Intersection of Sliding Hill Road and New Ashcake Road

Work begins Monday on intersection improvement at Sliding Hill/New Ashcake 

A continuous Green T intersection improvement will be built at the intersection of Sliding Hill and New Ashcake Road, with construction beginning on Monday, April 11. The original construction start date was pushed back a week due to a delay in the delivery of materials. Details about the improvements can be read here. Airport East Side terminal ribbon cutting
Members of the Board of Supervisors and other County officials joined with representatives of the Virginia House of Delegates and Virginia Department of Aviation to cut the ribbon on the new east side terminal building yesterday.

County opens new terminal on east side of the Hanover Airport

County Administrator John A. Budesky, members of the Hanover County Board of Supervisors and the Virginia Department of Aviation held a ribbon cutting ceremony on April 7 to celebrate the opening of a new terminal building on the east side of the Hanover County Airport. The new 7,000 square foot terminal includes a spacious lobby for air travelers, conference room facilities, pilot lounge and flight planning facilities. The new terminal building has been primarily funded through federal and state sources including a more than $2 million grant provided by the Virginia Department of Aviation. For more information read the story here. Video available on the County's Facebook page. The Hanover County Airport is a General Aviation Reliever Airport for Richmond International. Just over 100 aircraft are based in Hanover County. In addition to serving a variety of smaller aircraft, the Hanover County Airport is designed for mid-size corporate jets.
