Board of Supervisors to hear broadband update tomorrow

Keeping Teens Safe

"Keeping Teens Safe" - a virtual community conversation Thursday

“Parents in Hanover call us every day, expressing concern about their children’s emotional health,” says Martha Lambert, coordinator of Behavioral Health Wellness at the Hanover Community Services Board. “They ask how they can help their teenager navigate the stresses of the pandemic, academic life and relationships. They share stories about their children’s growing anxiety and deepening depression. We know that there are more parents out there who need support, so they feel confident when helping their kids.” On Thursday night, March 10, you are invited to join a virtual conversation from 7-9 p.m. over Zoom. Presenters from the CKG Foundation, Hanover Cares Coalition, Hanover Community Services Board, and Hanover County Public Schools will share their perspectives on teen mental health. Panelists will discuss different aspects of teen emotional well-being including building resilience, identifying risk factors, depression and anxiety, substance use, and suicide.  Several panelists will bring their lived experience to the discussion as survivors of adolescent depression and also as the parents of teens. Participants will also be able to ask panelists questions. You can register at https://tinyurl.com/HanoverKT
