Davidson sworn in as Beaverdam District supervisor

R. Allen Davidson was sworn in as the Beaverdam District’s interim supervisor yesterday and will take his seat at the Board of Supervisors meeting on February 9. Davidson, a 31-year veteran of the Hanover County’s Sheriff’s Office, where he retired as Lt. Col., will serve on the Board until a special election is held later this year. Davidson said he does not plan to be a candidate in that special election. For the full story read here.

Open house meetings on the Comp Plan to be held Feb. 8 and 10

As part of Hanover County’s Comprehensive Plan update, a series of open houses are scheduled for early February. Participants may come any time during the open houses to learn more about the planning process and provide feedback regarding their vision for the community’s future. There will be different stations that participants can visit at their own pace during the open houses. Masks and social distancing are recommended.  This  week’s open houses are on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at Oak Knoll Middle School and Patrick Henry High School and Thursday, Feb. 10, at Atlee High School and Mechanicsville High School. Board of Supervisors meets at 2 p.m. on Wednesday

The Hanover County Board of Supervisors will hold an afternoon meeting beginning at 2 p.m. on February 9. Among the items on the agenda are a request for additional funds for the DASH program, an update on solid waste and recycling issues and a request for a supplemental appropriation for Hanover County Public Schools. All Board meetings are open to the public and have time on the agenda for citizens to comment. Board meetings are videostreamed live on the website and the archived version is generally available on the Thursday after the meeting.
