Board expected to appoint interim Beaverdam District supervisor on Wednesday

At its meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 26, the Board of Supervisors is expected to appoint an interim representative for the Beaverdam District seat. On January 12, the Board established a deadline of Wednesday for anyone interested in being appointed to contact any Board member. The Board would like to decide upon the interim appointment on Wednesday and have the appointee sworn in on February 9. The new Beaverdam District representative would serve until November if Circuit Court Judge Overton Harris grants the County’s petition to order a special election for the seat to be held on the date of the General Election, which is November 8 this year. The action is necessary due to the death of longtime Beaverdam District representative Aubrey M. “Bucky” Stanley on December 31. The Board’s Jan. 26 meeting begins at 6 p.m. All Board meetings can be watched live on the website here, with the meeting archived on the same page usually on Thursday afternoon.
