"Connect Hanover" - drive for universal broadband coverage a go as Hanover receives $13.97 million grant

Today, Governor Ralph Northam announced the approval of Hanover County’s application for a Virginia Telecommunications Initiative (VATI) grant in the amount of $13.97 million. Today’s funding announcement will deliver a total investment of over $55 million of new broadband infrastructure to serve Hanover County residents. This funding from the State will leverage the County's American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) contribution of $14.84 million and private corporate investment from All Points Broadband, Dominion Energy and Rappahannock Electric Cooperative will make broadband service available to almost 6200 residents and businesses in Hanover that do not currently have sufficient internet access. Health Department to hold COVID vaccination clinic on Wednesday

On Wednesday, the Chickahominy Health District will be at the Hanover County vaccination center in the Ashland Junction Shopping center with all three COVID-19 vaccines! Time capsule presented
Board of Supervisors chairman Sean Davis locks the time capsule as County Administrator John A. Budesky and Hanover Museum of History & Culture Director Jaime Fawcett look on. The contents of the time capsule are intended to give Hanoverians of 2121 a glimpse of life in Hanover County in 2020-21. 

Board dedicates time capsule to County's Museum

Last Wednesday County Administrator John A. Budesky and Hanover Museum of History & Culture Executive Director Jaime Fawcett made a ceremonial presentation of the County's 300th birthday time capsule to the Board of Supervisors. The box was locked by Board chairman Sean Davis. The time capsule contains items intended to represent the years 2020 and 2021 and will be stored in Hanover's museum, not to be re-opened until 100 years from now. The box contains such items as the program for the opening of the museum on August 28, a newspaper article about the event, a COVID-19 vaccination card and face covering, coins in laminated sleeves, an i-phone, a thumb drive and badges representing the Hanover Sheriff's Office and Hanover Fire/EMS. This ceremony culminates the celebration of the County's 300th birthday.
