Opportunity to participate in the Citizens Survey!

An independent Citizens Survey is being conducted on behalf of Hanover County by Polco and the National Research Center. If you live in Hanover and have not received a mailed survey or an invitation to take the survey at a certain link, you can still participate in the survey. The link is here. All Hanover County residents are asked to participate. The Open Participation Community Survey expires October 30.

Prescription Drug Take-Back Event

Prescription drug take-back event on Saturday

On Saturday, October 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with Ashland Police Department and the Hanover County Department of Public Works, will be conducting a Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. During this event, citizens can safely surrender their expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceuticals and medications- no questions asked, no identification required. Collection sites are at the Mechanicsville Solid Waste Center, 7427 Verdi Ln, Mechanicsville, VA 23116, and the Ashland Police Department, 601 England St, Ashland, VA 23005. Saturday hours at the Voter Registration office

The Hanover Voter Registration and Elections Office in the Wickham Building at Hanover Courthouse will have special weekend hours on Saturday, October 23, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. as well as next Saturday, October 30, at the same time. Friday, October 22 is the last day you can request an absentee ballot by mail.  Your request must be received by your General Registrar by 5:00 p.m. Early voting is taking place now. You can drop off your ballot at the Wickham Building of the Hanover Government complex through Tuesday, Nov. 2, (Election Day) until 7 p.m.
