Scotchtown celebrates 300th anniversary on Saturday

Scotchtown, the home of Patrick Henry west of Ashland, will celebrate its 300+ Anniversary and Fall Festival this Saturday, Oct. 2, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The address is 16120 Chiswell Lane, Beaverdam, VA 23015. Transfer station on Rt. 301 closes at noon Wednesday; trash, recycling not affected

Hanover County’s Courtland Farm Road Transfer Station off U.S. Rt. 301 will close at noon on Wednesday, September 29, for paving repairs. It will reopen at its regular time on Thursday, September 30, weather permitting. The trash and recycling convenience center at 7234 Courtland Farm Road will not be affected by this temporary closure of the transfer station.

Public Utilities customer relief program continues

Customers of Hanover County Public Utilities can still receive assistance paying their water and sewer bill through the department’s Water and Sewer Utility Relief Program. Funds from the federal CARES Act remain to assist customers with bills dated between May 19, 2020 and July 6, 2021. Assistance will be provided on a first come/first serve basis until funds are exhausted or until October 29, 2021.For the full story read here.

Information about proposed Chickahominy pipeline

Hanover County is aware that some property owners in the County have received inquiries from Chickahominy Pipeline, LLC about the potential development of a gas pipeline that would serve the proposed Chickahominy Power Plant in Charles City County. At this time, Hanover has received limited information about the project. Officials’ knowledge of the plans is extremely limited, generally based on publicly available sources.
