Museum ribbon cutting Saturday

The Board of Supervisors and other officials will cut the ribbon opening the new Hanover Museum of History & Culture on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. In addition to the speakers, the program will feature vocal performances from former Hanover Idols winner Ammie Mines-Derricott, who will sing the National Anthem, and Hanover Junior Idols winner Rebekah Turner, who will sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” Afterwards, guests will be invited to tour the County’s new museum and welcome center.

300th birthday logo A Timeless Treasure

300th birthday event is 9:30-1 on Saturday

Hanover County will celebrate its 300th birthday on Saturday, Aug. 28, with a free public event at the historic Courthouse. Called “Make History with Us”, this family fun event will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the ribbon cutting and tours of the new Museum. Most of the events will take place on the lawn behind the historic Courthouse. The first 500 families to visit the County’s Welcome Table will receive free gifts commemorating the occasion. Local businesses have also donated gifts to attendees and raffle drawings will take place periodically. The event lasts through 1 p.m. For more information read here
