Mechanicsville Solid Waste to Close for Paving

The Mechanicsville Solid Waste Center on Verdi Lane will be closed on July 21 and July 22 for paving, as weather permits.  During the closure, the closest alternative convenience centers are located at Courthouse Park and Elmont.  A list of all county solid waste centers can be found here.   

County Statement on Proposed Natural Gas Line 

Within the past week, the County has learned that a number of residents have been contacted by a utility provider known as Chickahominy LLC regarding a proposed 24” natural gas pipeline being considered. According to a media report, this gas pipeline would be constructed through five Virginia localities including Hanover. Unfortunately, the company has not contacted Hanover County, and the company has not responded to the County’s requests for information. The County shares the concerns expressed by residents and will continue to attempt to gain information about this project. We will update residents as we learn about the company’s plans.

Tomato Teen Challenge

Tomato Teen Challenge Happening Tonight

As part of “Tomato Month”, Hanover County Parks and Recreation will host its first “Tomato Teen Challenge” tonight at Montpelier Park from 6:30pm – 8:30pm.  Activities include DJ music, tons of fun challenges and contests, live performances from Richmond Urban Dance and pizza from Papa John’s.  This event is free for those between the ages of 12 and 15.  Pre-registration is strongly encouraged.  Click here to register.
