Public hearing on proposed County budget Wednesday

The Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on the proposed County budget and related items on Wednesday, April 7, at 6 p.m. Hanover County Administrator John A. Budesky has proposed a $513 million County Budget for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1. No property tax rate increase is proposed. Budesky’s priorities include keeping salaries for teachers and public safety employees competitive with others in the market; meeting the needs of the five-year capital improvements plan; and maintaining our focus on the future. The deadline for submitting comments by email is Tuesday, April 6, at 5 p.m. All Board meetings are livestreamed, with the archived meeting generally up on Thursday afternoon. 

Trash and Recycling centers are closed on Sunday

Hanover County’s solid waste convenience centers will be closed on Easter Sunday, April 4.

County newsletter on website

The County’s newsletter, “The Hanover Review”, was mailed on Monday. “The Hanover Review” is mailed to all addresses in the county. If you live outside the county or haven’t seen your issue yet, it’s on the website here. This issue contains details about the County’s COVID-19 vaccination program, the County Administrator’s proposed budget, and the plans to improve broadband access throughout Hanover. It also includes news about what’s going on in the schools and Parks & Recreation classes and programs.
