Hanover CARES Act Grant Funds Still Available
Limited funds still remain to assist Hanover residents who are facing challenges with mortgage, rent, utility or food expenses due to the coronavirus national emergency. This assistance is available through the end of February or until funds are depleted.
Hanover County has received an extension to utilize the remaining funds from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and are continuing the partnership with United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg. United Way has distributed the funding to community partners to provide direct assistance to those in need. The following Hanover community partners will be managing this assistance:
Funds were also provided to Feedmore to support the services of local food banks and Meals on Wheels. United Way will work with Hanover County Government to ensure that the funds are spent appropriately in order to maximize their benefit to the intended population.
The Hanover County Board of Supervisors made the funds available from the County’s Coronavirus Relief Funds under the CARES Act.
Those in need of assistance must apply to one of the listed organizations. Organizations will be assisting Hanover residents based upon availability of funding. For additional assistance contact Hanover County Community Resources 804-365-4300.
Public Utilities -Financial Assistance Still Available
Customers of Hanover County Public Utilities who are having difficulties in paying their water and sewer bills due to financial hardships related to COVID 19 are encouraged to contact Public Utilities. Additional COVID relief funds are available to assist. for more information contact Public Utilities at 804-365-6024.
PPE Community Care Kits Available
Individual PPE kits are offered to patrons at various Hanover County offices including Social Services, Community Service Board, Hanover branches of the Pamunkey Regional Library, and numerous local human service agencies. Hanover DASH
This service provides invaluable transportation to medical appointments, grocery stores, errands, employment and formal social programs for those 60+ and persons with a short term or long term disability. Hours of operation are 6 AM to 6 PM Monday through Saturday.
In recognition of the financial impact of the pandemic, Hanover DASH is continuing the “No Co-Pay Period” – waiving the $6.00 trip fee on all trips until further notice.
All riders must be registered before utilizing the service which includes transportation throughout the county and within a 7 mile area beyond the county boarder. Service also includes transportation to Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center, medical facilities at Stony Point and all Hanover County government buildings.
A short registration form and documentation is required to confirm proof as resident of Hanover county, and age of 60 or over, or short term/ long term disability.
