First rabies vaccination clinic is on Saturday

Hanover Animal Control makes it easy for people to get their pets vaccinated by holding rabies vaccination clinics in the fall and winter. Vaccines will be administered at a cost of $8 per dog or cat. The first clinic of this fall/winter season will be held this Saturday, Oct. 31, in the parking lot at Patrick Henry High School from 9 a.m. to noon. The clinic will begin at 9 a.m. and end at noon. “Friends for Life” wins Harris Award

“Friends for Life”, a club formed in 2010 for people with disabilities who are beyond their high school years and have aged out of similar clubs in the area, was named the 2020 winner of the Jean C. Harris Award for Excellence on October 28. Friends for Life, formed by parents and community members, meets monthly at Cool Springs Baptist Church in Mechanicsville. The club offers individuals with disabilities events such as dinners, dance parties, as well as leadership opportunities and more. The award is given by the Hanover County Community Services Board.
