Pole Green Road widening meeting on Tuesday night

Hanover County will hold a citizen information meeting on Tuesday, October 27, to present preliminary plans for the proposed widening of Pole Green Road between Bell Creek Road and Rural Point Road. The meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors meeting room in the Hanover County Administration Building, 7516 County Complex Road, Hanover, Va. Because in person attendance at the meeting is limited due to COVID-19 protocols, seating must be reserved in advance. Seating will be assigned on a priority basis to property owners abutting the project, on a first come basis for those wishing to attend. There are 20 spaces available. County, United Way partner to create direct assistance to Hanover residents

Hanover County has partnered with United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg to distribute funding to community partners to help those who need direct assistance during this time. To date, 10 Hanover community partners have received Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding for non-profits. To read about them see here.

Governor here to announce “Fall Line Trail”

What was known as the Ashland to Petersburg Trail is now the Fall Line Trail. Governor Northam was at Carter Park in Ashland on Wednesday to announce the new name, the Fall Line Trail, in a groundbreaking ceremony. The Fall Line bicycling and walking trail will wind about 43 miles from Ashland at its northern terminus through Hanover County, and course through several other localities, crossing the Chickahominy, James, and Appomattox Rivers. Northam said the Fall Line trail will be the spine of a regional trail network connecting with the Virginia Capital Trail in Richmond and the Appomattox River Trail in Petersburg.
