Nominations Accepted for Jean C. Harris Award

Hanover County Community Service Board will begin accepting nominations for the Jean C. Harris Award for Excellence on Monday July 20. This award is in its third year and honors those individuals and groups going over and beyond to help those with disabilities and substance use issues. Nominations will be accepted through August 10 and can be made online. A video with more information about the award and how you can nominate someone can be found here.

Hanover DASH Celebrates 6 Months of Service

Hanover DASH, a specialized transportation service for older adults and those with disabilities, celebrated its sixth month of service on June 12, 20202. To celebrate, the program is offering specials such as no co-pays through September 30, expanded hours of operation, employment transportation as well as extending transportation to medical facilities at Stony Point.
Hanover DASH provides transportation to medical appointments, grocery stores, errands and formal social programs for riders ages 60 years old and above and those with disabilities. For more information visit www.hanoverdash.org or call 804-365-DASH.

Board of Supervisors Meet Wednesday

On Wednesday, July 22 the Hanover County Board of Supervisors will meet at 3:00 p.m. Some of the items on the agenda include an update on the DASH program, recent activities of the Capital Region Airport Commission and a VDOT transportation update.

There will be several public hearings that same evening, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Hanover County has greatly expanded the ways residents may provide comment without having to appear in person, An email address for both Citizens time and the public hearings is provided for comment and will be made a part of the record. The deadline for submitting Citizens’ Time and public hearing comments is Monday, July 20, at 5:00 p.m.
