Hanover re-opens park playgrounds and Pole Green skate park

In conjunction with the governor’s executive orders implementing Phase I of the Forward Virginia plan, Hanover’s park playgrounds and Pole Green skate park have been re-opened effective today. Be advised that amenities throughout the parks are not sanitized, so use with caution and follow the CDC health and safety guidelines. We reiterate the critical importance of flowing physical distancing guidelines and avoidance of gatherings and group activities. At this time, all permitted use of athletic fields, picnic shelters and historic sites remain cancelled and all department-sponsored programs and activities are cancelled. These cancellations include Taylor’s Pirate Fishing FUN and Taylor’s Neon Night Bike Ride, both scheduled in June. As the state continues to transition through reopening phases, the Department will make decisions regarding future programs, events, and the use of park athletic fields.

Meal kits distributed at four locations next week

Hanover County Government will continue to make food kits available to the community next week. Meals will be distributed Monday, Wednesday and Friday at John Gandy Elementary School and Mechanicsville Elementary School and on Monday and Wednesday at South Anna Elementary and Beaverdam Elementary School.  All dates are subject to supply availability. The pre-packaged food kits will be available between 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on each of these days.
