Budesky hired as new Administrator

Tonight the Board of Supervisors announced the selection of John A. Budesky as Hanover's next County Administrator. Budesky, who currently serves as Goochland County’s Administrator, was previously Deputy County Administrator in Hanover from 2013-16. “The Board is pleased that John is returning to Hanover County to serve as its Administrator,” said Aubrey M. Stanley, Chairman of the Board. “He already had a good reputation in Hanover and the Richmond region and has proven himself as the Goochland County Administrator.  We look forward to his leadership of the County workforce in the implementation of the Board’s vision for Hanover County.” Budesky will replace Cecil R. “Rhu” Harris Jr., who announced his retirement last November after 35 years with the County and 15 years as County Administrator. Budesky plans to assume his new role as Hanover County Administrator as soon as July 1 but no later than September 1.

County initiates plan of reduced operations

Due to the impacts of COVID-19 (coronavirus), Hanover County Government is following a plan of reduced operations. Hanover County offices remain open with on-line and phone services as your primary point of service. If you are unable to meet your needs through either of these methods you can call for an appointment with the appropriate department. These precautions are designed to help keep community members, employees and the families of all safe by observing social distancing and minimizing the number of people in a small space. These practices are subject to change pending developments in the COVID-19 coronavirus situation. Announcements from departments can be read here.

Residents asked to use centers only for essential needs

Hanover County is asking for the support of all citizens that use the solid waste convenience centers. Residents should only use the centers to dispose of waste for essential needs. Extremely high usage from home cleaning projects and other activities are causing supply chain problems and could result in shutdowns because of the heavy volume. Hauling to and disposal at landfills are limiting factors and are expected to get worse. Please limit your trips and consolidate loads. For more information read here.
