County’s new specialized transportation program presented

Hanover DASH will be conducting an information presentation at a public meeting sponsored by the Montpelier Ruritan Club on Wednesday February 5, at 8pm. This meeting will be held in the Montpelier Parks & Recreation Building located at 17203 Sycamore Tavern Lane, Montpelier 23192. Public information meeting on Wegman’s request February 6

A public information meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, February 6, at 6:30 PM., at Oak Knoll Middle School, 10295 Chamberlayne Rd, Mechanicsville, VA, to review an application submitted by AIR PARK ASSOCIATES, L.P. The proposed use of this property is for a Wegmans’ distribution facility. The rezoning application, site plan application and answers to frequently asked questions can be read here. It is anticipated that members of the Hanover County Board of Supervisors and the Hanover County Planning Commission will be in attendance; however, this is an informational meeting only and no action will be taken by County officials concerning the rezoning request. All interested parties are invited to attend.

Rabies Vaccination Clinic

Final rabies vaccination clinic tomorrow

The final Hanover County Animal Control rabies vaccination clinic of the 2019-20 season will be held tomorrow at the East Hanover Rescue Squad from 9 a.m. to noon. The East Hanover Rescue Squad is located at 8105 Walnut Grove Road in Mechanicsville. All dogs and cats (including so-called ‘barn cats’) are required by law to be vaccinated for rabies at four months of age. For dogs, you also must have tags and a valid license proving the vaccination. The vaccines cost $8 per dog or cat.  For information, view the video here.

Free tax preparation assistance for qualified individuals and families begins Tuesday evening

On Tuesday evenings from February 4 through April 7, the Hanover County Department of Social Services is offering free help with tax returns for qualified individuals and families. This program is offered through United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. The tax preparation services are available beginning at 5 p.m. on a walk-in basis. Services are first-come, first-served
