Sheriff’s Office receives traffic safety award
The Sheriff’s Office received the 2019 Law Enforcement Challenge Award from the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police (VACP) on Wednesday. Dana Schrad, Executive Director of VACP, presented the award to Colonel David R. Hines, Sheriff, and Sgt. David Parrish of the Traffic Safety Unit. The Sheriff’s Office received first place in the state for Traffic Safety among sheriff’s offices with 151 or more deputies. The award recognizes the office’s efforts to improve traffic safety using such strategies as checkpoints, child seat checks, educational events, participation in Virginia’s Click-It-or-Ticket program and specialized patrols.
