Board Adopts Resolution in Support of Second Amendment

Today the Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution which read, in part, that: “… the Hanover County Board of Supervisors wishes to express opposition to any law that would unconstitutionally restrict the rights under the Second Amendment of the citizens of Hanover County to keep and bear arms…” The Board expressed its full intent to “stand in full support of the Constitution of the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Virginia and will oppose and challenge, to the full extent of the law, any and all efforts by any person, organization, or governing body to infringe on the rights guaranteed by these constitutions to its citizens, including the right to keep and bear arms as defined in the Second Amendment, and will accept no efforts to change or diminish these rights except through the amendment process as prescribed in said Constitution.”
