Celebrate the holiday season with Hanover County’s newest event — Winter on the Green. We will kick off the holiday gathering with a grand illumination ceremony. Families can enjoy horse and carriage rides, visits with Santa Claus, winter character experiences, photo opportunities, ornament making and more. Children can keep warm by sipping on a complimentary cup of hot chocolate while decorating a cookie with Mrs. Claus.

The event will feature a makers market with more than 30 vendors and a variety of treats. Cash and card options will vary between vendors.

The free event takes place Saturday, Dec. 9 from 5-8 p.m. at the Historic Hanover Courthouse Green, 7496 County Complex Road. Parking will be available at the Hanover County Government Complex.

Attendees should arrive early to allow for heavy traffic.

The grand illumination begins at 5:15 p.m. with family-friendly activities to follow. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The event is sponsored by Hanover County Parks and Recreation with support from the Sheriff’s Office, Fire-EMS, Communications and Community Engagement, Hanover Museum of History & Culture and Hanover County Historical Society.
