[ARCHIVED] Board seeks candidates for interim appointment to fill Chickahominy District seat

The Hanover County Board of Supervisors is seeking an interim representative to serve the Chickahominy District following the resignation of Angela Kelly-Wiecek effective October 6.  To be considered, a nominee must be a registered voter residing in the Chickahominy District and meet state qualifications to hold public office.

Interested candidates should submit their names by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4 here. This is a dedicated site for interested Chickahominy residents to submit their nominations and qualifications. Interested residents can also contact the County Administrator’s Office at (804) 365-6005 to submit a nomination.  All submitted names will be distributed to Board Chair Canova Peterson and the County Administrator.

Board members will review the qualifications of nominees and conduct interviews in individual or two-by-two conversations with a possible appointment at the Board’s Oct. 11 meeting.

The interim supervisor will be sworn in after appointment, which is anticipated to be prior to October 25, and will serve through the remainder of the year.

Chickahominy residents will elect a new supervisor in the Nov. 7 General Election. That individual’s term will begin Jan. 1, 2024.
