[ARCHIVED] Public information meeting on school site June 21

Schools Site

Hanover County will hold a public information meeting on the proposed location for a future high school and middle school on June 21 at 6 p.m. at Mechanicsville High School.

The Board of Supervisors authorized a contract to purchase a 113-acre site in the Henry District last December. The site is located on the north side of U.S. Route 360 between Walnut Grove and Pole Green roads. There are no immediate plans to build the schools, but the site can accommodate Mechanicsville High School and Bell Creek Middle School when those buildings are replaced in the future.

An amendment to the Comprehensive Plan will be required. The Planning Commission anticipates holding a public hearing on the proposed amendment in July with a second public hearing before the Board of Supervisors expected in August.

Further details on this project can be read here.
