The Spirit of Volunteerism Awards is an annual program that recognizes inspiring individuals or groups who have made major contributions to the quality of life in Hanover County through their volunteer efforts. The nomination deadline is Friday, March 10.
Nominations may be submitted in the following eight categories:
Spirit of One - honors an individual adult volunteer who is 19 years old or older. Two recipients will be chosen in this category, one of whom serves in a school setting.
Spirit of Youth - honors an exceptional youth volunteer aged 18 or younger.
Spirit of Youth-Team - honors an exceptional group of youth or a club whose members are aged 18 years or younger or still attending high school.
Spirit of Dedication - honors an individual aged 60 years or older.
Spirit of Team - honors two or more adult volunteers who have worked towards a common cause.
Spirit of Family - honors two or more family members who have worked together towards a common purpose.
Spirit of Inspiration - honors an individual who has volunteered 20 or more years for a specific organization.
Commitment to Community - recognizes a Hanover business that has demonstrated a sustained commitment of community support.
All nominees and the award recipients will be recognized at the Spirit of Volunteerism event, which will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2022, 7-9 p.m., at Atlee High School, 9414 Atlee Station Road, Mechanicsville, Va. The guest host will be Simone Cuccurullo from Channel 12’s News Team.
