[ARCHIVED] VDOT public meeting set for Ashcake Road bridge rehabilitation

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is hosting an open house to inform the public about the upcoming bridge rehabilitation project on Ashcake Road (Route 657) over I-95 in Hanover County.

Beginning fall 2022, Ashcake Road (Route 657) will be closed until the project completion in late fall 2023. A detour will be in place. VDOT says drivers on I-95 can expect nightly single and double lane closures in both directions throughout the duration of the project. Limited full detours of I-95 are anticipated between midnight and 4 a.m. for critical bridge activities. VDOT says the work will extend the lifetime of the bridge.

The public can stop by anytime between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 4 at VDOT Ashland Residency, located at 523 N. Washington Highway, Ashland, VA 23005. The meeting will provide an opportunity for individuals, businesses, or organizations to learn more about the upcoming work.

Anyone requiring special assistance to attend and participate in this informational meeting may contact VDOT’s Civil Rights Division at 804-524-6091 or TDD/TTY 711.

Questions about the project can be addressed to Brian Ramsey, P.E., area construction engineer, at [email protected] or 804-585-3579.
