[ARCHIVED] Public Works Receives VDOT Award

Public Works road team

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has named the Hanover County its Locality of the Year.

This award recognizes all employees involved in the engineering function for the Department of Public Works for local administration and delivery of road projects for VDOT’s Richmond District, such as the widening of Sliding Hill Road and the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Creighton and Cold Harbor roads. The award was presented at VDOT’s Locality Day on May 19.

Criteria for the award include such factors as communication, timely scoping of projects, project-related documents, financial management, Dashboard performance and legacy projects.

“This recognition encompasses the whole team for delivery including the project managers and engineers but also our administrative staff, field staff and even the support agencies that help us deliver our projects,” said Mike Flagg, Director of Public Works. “We are very appreciative of all of the hard work everyone has done to provide these services to the residents and businesses of the County.”
