County Administrator John A. Budesky announced today the appointment of Amanda L. Six as Director of Finance and Management Services for Hanover County. Six officially begins her new role on July 1st.
Amanda Six has 14 years of governmental finance experience and for the last six years has served as the Director of Finance for Hanover County Public Schools. Amanda has gained valuable experience over her career by her previous service, which includes the Director of Finance in King William County as well as the Budget Manager for the City of Fredericksburg. Amanda has had a hand in producing and managing award winning budget documents and annual financial reports in multiple localities. She previously worked for Hanover County, where her career began, serving as a Budget Management Analyst.
“We are excited to add Amanda to our team,” Budesky said, adding, “Amanda stood out from a list of qualified applicants. Her experience in local government budget and finance as well as her familiarity with Hanover County will make her a valuable asset to our workforce”. Jay Brown, Deputy County Administrator for Administrative Services noted, “The County has prided itself in obtaining top talent – particularly talent that will further enhance our reputation as a well-managed and fiscally responsible locality. We are pleased that she will be joining our team of dedicated staff.”

I look forward to continuing the excellent financial stewardship of County resources and I’m very grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve the citizens of Hanover County in my new role,” she added.
Six graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture and Applied Economics and Virginia Commonwealth University where she obtained her Master’s in Public Administration. She has attended a wide variety of leadership and professional development courses over her career including the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Policy’s LEAD program as well as the Government Finance Officers Association Leadership Academy.
