[ARCHIVED] Work begins April 11 on intersection improvement at Sliding Hill and New Ashcake

UPDATE: A continuous Green T intersection improvement will be built at the intersection of Sliding Hill and New Ashcake Road, with construction beginning on Monday, April 11. The original construction start date has been pushed back due to material delivery delay.

The partially signalized “Green T” improvement will help eliminate some of the congestion drivers experience turning from New Ashcake Road onto Sliding Hill Road, as well as address safety concerns on Sliding Hill Road. A video explaining this project can be viewed here.

Installation of the traffic control safety devices will be the first thing that occurs on the project. This work will be followed by minor storm sewer installation and signal foundation work. A traffic signal and median, to help direct traffic, will be installed as part of the project. Resurfacing of the project area is expected to begin in late May and take approximately 6 days.

The greatest traffic impacts will take place during the installation of the median followed by the final paving. Work will generally take place between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. unless carry over work is required, which sometimes happens during paving.

The project is scheduled to be completed in early June, weather permitting.
